What are some creative ideas to do in a classroom to bring children to literature?

I am a student learning to be a teacher. My group has a presentation tomorrow and our chapter is titled "Inviting Children into Literature". We will be doing actual things that can take place in a classroom. I would love to hear your creative ideas for inviting children into literature. Thanks!

Why don't you bring in a prop that matches with the story, like if you are reading The Mitten by Jan Brett, bring in a mitten and then let the children read aloud a paragraph. Then when their paragraph is done pass the mitten to the next person until everyone has had a chance to wear the mitten and read... this works well for any prop... i.e. dr. seuss hat and read green eggs and ham...
