I'm sorry if you find this question strange or offensive. But I'm just trying to understand the reasoning behind believe in God and the supernatural.

And please don't answer:
"Because the Bible says so."
or
"the Holy Spirit is real and ghosts are not"
Those are claims without reason or proof.
